| Hey all and happy Thursday!
Okay, we are back from the 2 weeks of District 10 4-H contests and we wanted to pass on a few reminders for some important deadlines that are coming up pretty quickly. These include all of the awards, leadership, and scholarship applications in addition to validation tag orders. We’ll also be sending out some separate emails for the Texas 4-H Roundup registration information, as well as the upcoming District 10 Leadership Lab information!
We are also excited to announce that we are able to transition back to in-person programming for this summer (YAY!!!). We are meeting with our Ambassador, Council, and Club Manager groups over the next couple of weeks to work on some fun summer activities and ideas to help rejuvinate our program after some big challenges this past year. With that, we’ll get started!!
AWARDS APPLICATIONS:
- Deadline: All Awards Applications are due May 13, 2021
- The 2020-2021 4-H Awards applications and information are now available online at https://bastrop.agrilife.org/awards/
- The following Awards require interviews as part of the application process:
- Gold Star
- Silver Star
- I Dare You
- Bronze Star
- 4-H Sweetheart
- Recordbooks are due to the CEO by June 2nd
LEADERSHIP APPLICATIONS:
- Deadline: All County Ambassador Applications are due May 13, 2021

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS:
- Please note that the availability of scholarships for 2020-2021 may be variable due a lack of fundraising opportunities and the ever changing situation presented to these groups by COVID-19.
- Applications are due to the CEO by 12:00 Noon on May 13, 2021

- Changes for the 2021 Scholarship Application Process:
- This year (and for the 2021-2020 year) applicants MUST have turned in recordbooks for 2 of the past 3 years for judging at the county level (this will be changed to 3 of the past 4 years in 2022-2023)
- There will be no in-person interviews this year. We are asking for applicants to submit a recorded video of them answering 5-7 questions chosen by the committee. These questions will be released the day after the applications are due at the County Extension Office
- Important Dates:
- Friday, February 05, 2021 Applications released (online)
- Thursday, May 13, 2021 Applications due to CEO by 12:00 Noon
- Friday, May 14, 2021 Questions for recording interviews released to applicants
- Wednesday, June 2, 2021 Recorded Scholarship Interviews due the CEO
- Wednesday, June 2, 2021 4-H Recordbooks due to the CEO for scholarships
- Monday, June 14, 2021 County Recordbook Judging
- Thursday, July 8, 2021 District Recordbook Judging; TBA
- Friday, July 30, 2021 Bastrop County 4-H Achievement Banquet
VALIDATION TAG REMINDERS:
- All livestock projects that exhibitors would like to show in the fall major livestock shows (State Fair or Heart of Texas) and/or major livestock shows (Fort Worth, San Angelo, San Antonio, Houston, Rodeo Austin, etc.) MUST be state validated for the 2020-2021 4-H/school year.
- To receive the validation day details and enter large animals in the fall or spring major livestock shows, you must purchase validation tags.
- The June 2021 Validation date and location for these animals will be announced as soon as possible – please look out for updates.
- We are accepting late tag orders until May 19th at $30 each – there are 2 ways to order and pay:
