Rules & Forms

Please note that the health & safety of our exhibitors and their families is of our upmost concern.  This means that there may be some adjustments to the event schedule at the discretion of the Show Board.  Thank you for your patience and understanding!

2026 Show Updates:

  • Livestock Project Entries:
    • All entry forms are required to have the parent/guardian signatures, exhibitor SSN, and exhibitor Quality Counts Number at the time of entry – Superintendents will no longer accept entry forms without these items
    • ALL Entry Forms and fees MUST be hand delivered on the designated dates
    • Exhibitors and a parent or legal guardian must be present at validation day or exhibitor will not be allowed to validate or show animal in show
    • In the case of exhibitor participating in a UIL, college entrance exam, FFA or 4-H event, a parent or designated representative must be present to pay entry fees and turn in COMPLETED entry forms
    • Official state validation tags for major livestock shows will serve as validation tag number – if an animal is State Validated, it does not need to be physically present at the time of validation and entry for this show
    • All non-state validated breeding gilts being entered in the show MUST be physically brought to the BALSFA validation event, have its ear notches recorded, and be ear tagged.
    • Lost validation tags must be reported immediately to a County Extension Agent or Agricultural Science Teacher and the species superintendent.
    • Breeding rabbit entry fees will now be $3 each
    • There will be a barrow show and a gilt show; gilts will NOT be shown in the barrow show
    • Ag Mechanics Check-in and judging has been moved up in the schedule (check in from 3 PM-4PM, judging begins at 4:30 PM)
  • Invitational Contest Entries:
    • The following contests are open to ALL youth in the county: Youth Western Art Show, Baking & Food Prep, & Public Speaking Contests
    • Plant Show was removed due to insufficient entries (Floral Design was removed for the same reason in 2024-2025)
    • Please see rules for full eligibility requirements
    • Entry Forms & payment due at the entry/validation event on February 5, 2026 and MUST be hand delivered
    • Western Arts Show Check in has moved to Thursday evening
  • Ag Mechanics Project Entries:
    • Are required to be submitted with payment in-person only (no longer accepting postmarked entries)
    • Mandatory meeting for all Ag Mechanics Project team members at 6:30 PM at the BALSFA Barn immediately following entry collection on February 01, 2024.
    • A brief description of the projects is now required on the entry form

Auction Information

State Validation & Broiler Order Information
  • Please Note: If an animal has been State Validated for the Major Livestock Shows, exhibitors do NOT need to bring the animal to the BALSFA validation/entry period.  They still need to complete entry and payment during the designated period, though, and both exhibitor and parent must be present.
  • To order State Validation Tags or Broilers for the Bastrop Area Livestock Show, please visit the Bastrop County Extension Livestock & Validation Page
  • BALSFA will be using broilers from the TBA Hatch Date.
Fundraisers & Support Opportunities
  • FALL 2025 BALSFA BBQ Raffle Fundraiser:
    • Raffle Fundraiser with Silent Auction!
    • Funds used to build up the BALSFA Scholarship Funds and support the show
    • Date: Saturday, September 13, 2025
    • Location: Sacred Heart Parish Hall in Rockne, TX
    • Tickets: 
      • Only 150 tickets are being sold for this event
      • Tickets are $100 each and includes admission for 2 people (you and 1 guest) to a tasty BBQ meal and refreshments!
      • Please be sure to reach out to the BALSFA Committee Members for purchasing options (If you have any questions or need to locate a Committee Member, please let us know – we’d be happy to help)
      • Prizes can be seen below:

 

 

  • 2025 Southeast Buyers Group Gator Swamp Stomp Fundraiser:
    • Reverse Raffle Fundraiser with live and silent auctions
    • Funds will be brought to the 2026 BALSFA Livestock Auction to support exhibitors
    • Date: Saturday September 20, 2025
