Master Gardener

Master Gardeners are members of the local community who take an active interest in their lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers and gardens. They are enthusiastic, willing to learn and to help others, and able to communicate with diverse groups of people.

What really sets Master Gardeners apart from other home gardeners is their special training in horticulture. In exchange for their training, persons who become Master Gardeners contribute time as volunteers, working through their Extension office to provide horticultural-related information to their communities.

Did you know there is a “community garden” in downtown Bastrop? Yes, there is! It is located on Main Street between Farm and Spring Streets. Terry Moore, Bastrop YMCA partnered with the City of Bastrop to create this multiple plot garden. Bastrop County Master Gardeners manage the community garden which offers garden plots with installed soaker hoses providing water via timer.

All you have to do is: Read, complete and return the form; upon acceptance, plant, maintain and harvest! It’s FREE!!! How cool is that? Plots are available on a first-come, first-served basis so complete the attached form and return it as instructed. ”
