COUNTY CAMP DETAILS & RSVP
HAPPY JULY!
We are super excited to start jumping into our July 2021 activities and wanted to pass on the details of our County Camp to you!
OVERVIEW:
- Our County Camp is a camp specifically for our Bastrop County 4-H members that is designed and led by our Bastrop County 4-H Council!
- This year, we are focusing on fun activities that help build skills in teamwork, leadership, club meeting participation, and communication.
TENTATIVE SCHEDULE (May change slightly depending on pool availability):
- 9:30 AM Check-In at the Park
- 10:00 AM Ice-Breakers & Games
- 11:00 AM Team Building Activity Rotations
- 12:00 Noon Lunch (Provided)
- 1:00 PM Communication Activities
- 2:00 PM Escape Room Activity
- 3:00 PM Intro to Parliamentary Procedure
- 4:00 PM Swimming/Free Time
- 5:00 PM Supper (Provided)
- 6:00 PM Departure
COST & RSVP INFO:
- The camp is FREE for all of our Bastrop County 4-H Members to participate in!
- Please RSVP online at https://bit.ly/21CountyCamp by 12:00 Noon on Monday, July 12, 2021, to allow us time to order snacks, refreshments, and food!
CHAPERONES/HELPERS:
- We will need a few adults who would be willing to chaperone our youth participants and help set up a few of the activities the day of camp

Series that is starting up to help our youth feel a little more comfortable in preparing for some of the upcoming opportunities they will participate in. We’ll also collect feedback from participants on what topics they want to cover in the upcoming sessions.

- The Professional YoU! Workshop is designed for youth who would like help with developing their professional skills and presence!
- This will be the first session offered this year – we will also have another session offered on Saturday, October 9th!
- This session will take place at the Bastrop County Extension Office (901 Pecan St in Bastrop) on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and will cover a large number of etiquette topics.

YLP TOASTMASTER’S PUBLIC SPEAKING CAMP DETAILS & RSVP
HAPPY JULY!
We are super excited to start jumping into our July 2021 activities and wanted to pass on the details of our Youth Leadership Program (YLP) Toastmaster’s Public Speaking Camp with you! This experience is a truly fun one – this is the one camp where we actually ask parents to drop off their kids, the event is facilitated by youth who have been through the course for at least 3-4 years, the County Extension Agents, and a Toastmaster’s Volunteer. If you have any questions or need help with transportation, please let Mellanie know 🙂
OVERVIEW:
- This is a 3-day Public Speaking Camp that combines some of our favorite 4-H public speaking activities with the Toastmaster’s method and expertise!
- Youth will work together to learn how to give constructive feedback, learn the basics of public speaking, as well as prepare (and deliver!) 3 different types of speeches
- 2 of the speeches are pretty simple – the first will be introducing themselves to the group, the second will be a surprise!
- the 3rd speech will be a short, inspirational speech that will be delivered at the graduation ceremony
- This year, we are going to be hosting the camp at a Travis County Facility (around the Manor area)

- We will limit the experience to the first 20 people to sign up

Promotional Leadership Opportunity & Agent Schedules
Hey all!
We are super excited to start hosting in-person activities, again!!! In this email blast, we are focusing on the upcoming Summer In the City Event being held in Bastrop next weekend. However, we are planning a lot of fun opportunities for July. We are going to be sending quite a bit more information out on those around Monday, June 21st. If you all have any ideas for programs or events, please let us know, we would love to hear from you!
SUMMER IN THE CITY – PROMOTIONAL LEADERSHIP ACTIVITY:
- This event is taking place from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday, June 19th, in downtown Bastrop
- We need youth and adult volunteers who are willing to help us host a 4-H booth, play Plinko, and give away some 4-H goodies!
- We would like to have 2-3 people at the booth during the event in 2 hour shifts so you have some time to move around and enjoy your Saturday, as well!
- Helping out with this event DOES count as a promotional leadership activity for recordbooks

AGENT SCHEDULES:
- As most of you know, June is a crazy busy month for most of our 4-H Activities! So, our agents will be in and out of the office quite a bit this month – please see the dates below for the main times they will not be at the Extension Office
- June 14-18: Mellanie will be at a family reunion and will be limiting her access to emails and cell phone; if you need help with anything, please contact the County Extension Office
- June 16-17: Ashley & Hillary will be out of the office helping to facilitate the District 10 Horse Show
- June 22: Ashley & Mellanie will be out of the office facilitating summer livestock validations
- June 23-25: Ashley, Mellanie, & Hillary will be out of the office chaperoning the District 10 Leadership Lab
